The Welsh Government has been criticised and told to 'show stronger leadership' over fire safety at Welsh tower blocks.

Plaid Cymru spokesperson for Communities Bethan Jenkiins AM accused the Welsh Government of making 'inconsistent statements' over the advice given to local authorities over fire safety tests following the fire at Grenfell Tower.

Earlier this week, it was announced a one-day National Assembly inquiry will be held next month following the tragedy.

The Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee will examine the safety requirements, guidance to residents and the current regulations in Wales on Thursday 13 July.

The Welsh Government has also issued advice to social landlords saying if they have similar materials to the type of cladding found at Grenfell Tower, they need to be tested 'urgently'.

The Chief Executive of the NHS in Wales, Dr Andrew Goodall, has also written to each of the seven health boards asking them to report back to him with findings by today.
