From turning down a peerage to being a proud grandfather - Rhodri Morgan in his last interview
Rhodri Morgan was born in 1939 and grew up in Radyr on the outskirts of Cardiff.
Although interested in politics from an early age, it wasn’t until Rhodri was in his late forties that he finally entered parliament.
It was to be the start of an impressive career that took him from the backbenches of Westminster to become the First Minister of Wales.
In his final television interview with ITV Cymru Wales recorded just weeks before his passing, Rhodri Morgan spoke to Adrian Masters about his life as First Minister, a position he says he got from being in the 'right place at the right time'.
He also said his decision to step down from political office was a choice he made with no regrets, despite being offered a peerage twice.
The full programme, Rhodri Morgan: The Last Interview, is on ITV Cymru Wales tonight at 8pm.
