Warburton is out for six weeks with a knee injury, but is still in contention for Lions selection

Wales flanker Sam Warburton's knee injury will not interfere with his British and Irish Lions chances, according to Cardiff Blues boss Danny Wilson.

Warburton is expected to be sideline for around six weeks after suffering a medial ligament strain during his club's clash against Ulster last Friday. Lions head coach Warren Gatland names his squad for the summer's New Zealand tour next week and Warburton is expected to be included, with some backing him to be captain.

Despite the tight deadline, Blues head coach Wilson says he does not foresee any problems with the 28 year old being available for the Lions.

Warburton will miss the Blues' Judgement Day appointment with the Ospreys on Saturday and remaining fixtures against Zebre and the Dragons, but could feature if the Blues reach the Champions Cup qualification play-off final.
