Plaid Cymru AM suspended from Senedd group

Plaid Cymru AM Neil McEvoy has been suspended from the party's assembly group following a ruling that he bullied a Cardiff Council employee.

The case tribunal found that Cllr McEvoy had bullied the woman but not harassed her.

Today Plaid Cymru AMs met to discuss whether to take any action against him after the a tribunal suspended him for a month from being a Cardiff councillor.

He's also been sacked from the shadow cabinet and lost his position as a party spokesman.

Afterwards Neil McEvoy said:

"I make no apology for standing up for my constituent for being thrown out of her home because of poverty and the bedroom tax. I'll be taking this case to the High Court to show that I was doing the right thing.

"I can’t say anymore at this time. This is a temporary suspension until me and the group can agree a statement together. We are a united group but I need to take legal advice before we agree our statement and so it’s right that I’m temporarily suspended until that time. It could be that I’m back in the group in a few hours but I need to speak to my Barrister first. I’ll be meeting him at 2pm and will make another statement after that."
