Welsh parents 'struggling' to find the childcare they need
Parents in Wales are "more likely to struggle" to find the childcare they need, with parents who work irregular hours or those with a disabled child facing the biggest challenges.
New research by the Family and Childcare Trust also found that fewer than 1 in 5 councils in Wales are confident that there is enough childcare in their area for parents working full time.
But the findings show that childcare costs in Wales have fallen by 5%, with average weekly nursery costs now £15 per week lower than the UK average.
"The Welsh Government is rightfully investing in childcare, but too many parents are still struggling to find and pay for the childcare they need", said Ellen Broome of the Family and Childcare Trust.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said local authorities are responsible for ensuring there is sufficient childcare provision in their areas, "as far as is reasonably practicable".
