Toddler struck down with rare illness defies odds with progress

This time last year, we brought you the story of a Newport toddler left paralysed after being struck down by a rare condition.

Felicity Watkins was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, where the body's immune system attacks part of the nervous system. She was left completely paralysed.

Doctors said she would have a 10% chance of survival.

But 12 months on, Felicity is no longer fighting for her life - she's fighting back.

She has regained use of her legs which she uses to play with her toys, and is slowly progressing with her walking.
