Breaking Into News 2017: Your chance to be mentored by a top broadcast journalist
Aspiring journalists are being offered the opportunity to gain experience in ITV Newsrooms across Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
Breaking Into News is an initiative run by Media Trust in partnership with ITV News and ITN to discover hidden media talent and find broadcast journalists of the future.
The initiative, now in it’s 6th Year, offers 18 to 25-year-olds the chance to be mentored by experienced broadcast journalists from the ITV newsrooms in reporting and production skills.
How to enter
To apply you’ll be required to submit a short description of yourself and your background, an idea of what you would like your report to focus on, and why you deserve the opportunity to ‘break into news’.
Eleven finalists will be given the opportunity to work with mentors to develop their ideas and turn them into a news report for their local newsroom.
The finalists will present their news reports to a high-profile judging panel including executives from ITV News and Media Trust.
Each report will also be considered for inclusion on an ITV News platform.
One lucky winner will be presented with an iPad and be given the opportunity to spend a day with the team producing the ITV News at Ten.
Entrants have between the 23rd of January and 6th of March to get their applications in.
