Year of Adventure: Snowdon!
It is one of the busiest mountains in the UK.Sitting 1,085 metres above sea level Snowdon is a mecca for walkers, and unless you take the train, can be fairly brutal too.
Whilst the weather was still somewhat favourable, I set off up the Pyg Track from Pen-y-Pass with Mountain Leader, Mike Raine.
The Pyg track is one of the shortest and most constant climbs up the mountain and the day we ventured up, one of the busiest.
In the space of just a few hours we saw a helicopter fire on the next mountain, and two rescues on Snowdon itself.
After around an hour of solid walking the summit was (distantly) in our sights.
What follows then is a steep slog; weaving your way up the side of the mountain before finally joining the main Llanberis path at the top.
We found ourselves reaching the summit amidst wispy cloud... the view across the Snowdonia mountains made all the more dramatic as the cloud intermittently revealed what lay below.
Although the summit was shared with tens of other walkers who'd made the trek to the top, I had a real sense of otherworldliness, and achievement.
Over the past few months i’ve got to experience some of the most awesome adventures that Wales has to offer; and for me Wales has always been and will always be, the most perfect place to have adventures…
