150 jobs 'to go' as Newport bakery set to close
150 jobs 'to go' as Newport bakery Avana Bakeries in Rogerstone is set to close.
A union official has told ITV News that it is unlikely that a buyer will be found to save the business from closure.
There was a meeting this afternoon at 12:30pm today.
The firm announced that Avana Bakeries was entering a 45 day consultation.
150 jobs, including office staff, would be lost and the company could close by the end of January, unless a new buyer is found.
The union official told ITV News that this was unlikely.
This is not the first upheaval that workers at the bakery have faced at Avana.

Today - 150 job losses and closure of the bakery.
