Katherine Jenkins and Alfie Boe star together in West End musical

Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins is to star in a West End musical with tenor Alfie Boe.

The pair will take the lead roles in the Rodgers & Hammerstein’s hit Carousel at the London Coliseum.

Jenkins will play Julie Jordan, a mill-worker who falls in love with hell-raising fairground barker Billy Bigelow, who will be played by Boe.

The production will run for five weeks from April 7th 2017.

It's Jenkins first dramatic role, the singer from Neath, is already taking lessons in New York.

Jenkins says the production will be "a big step out of my comfort zone’" but she had studied songs from musicals before gravitating to classical work.
