A new helicopter pad is to be built at a hospital in Merthyr Tydfil. It comes after the Welsh Government announced almost £700 000 of funding for Prince Charles Hospital.

The 24 hour helipad will allow flight medics to attend to patients at any time of day or night after the current pad was found to be unsuitable for night flights.Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething, says it's part of the Welsh Government's commitment to delivering an "effective health service."

Cwm Taf University Health Board expects the new helipad to be operational by March 2017.
