Cardiff Airport to continue daily service to London
Cardiff Airport has announced it is to continue a twice-daily service to London, following what they describe as "an overwhelming response".
The service was first introduced as an alternative way to get to the capital during the Severn Tunnel closure.
Airline Flybe said it has seen a very promising level of customer uptake during its first few weeks of operation, with 95% of people saying they would continue to use the service after the tunnel re-opened.
The service between Cardiff and London City airports will continue from Tuesday November 1st, with flights operating twice a day.
Flybe boasts of a flight time of usually just one hour, with the record journey taking just 35 minutes.
Today's announcement has been welcomed by Economy and Infrastructure Secretary Ken Skates.
The Severn Tunnel will be closed until Friday October 21st, to allow engineers to install over eight miles of electrical equipment, to power a new fleet of electric trains.
Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns promised the delays will be "worth it".
