Wales fans given 'outstanding contribution' award during Euros

Wales fans have been honoured with a 'outstanding contribution' award from UEFA following the European Championships this summer.

Tens of thousands of football fans had the summer of a lifetime when they travelled to France to watch Wales progress to the Euro semi-finals.

UEFA's executive committee announced earlier today they had recognised the Welsh as well as supporters from Iceland, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Because of their continued support of the team during the campaign, Gareth Bale famously described the Welsh fans as their 'twelfth man'.
