Rare Tommy Cooper interview from 1981 unearthed in the ITV Wales archive

Legendary comedian and magician Tommy Cooper is still regarded as one of the most influential entertainers of all time.

Despite his incredible performances he was a private man and interviews with him are very rare. We've just unearthed this classic from December 1981.

The interview was actually filmed in Chippenham for HTV's Report West news programme.

Cooper was appearing in cabaret in the town.

The footage forms part of the ITV archive at the National Library of Wales.

Experts at the library are looking after more than 250,000 items in the ITV collection.
