Longest-serving Welsh footballer David Vaughan retires

Wales midfielder David Vaughan has retired from international football after 13 years; making him the longest-serving player.

The 33-year-old made his debut in a 2-0 away defeat to the United States in May 2013, and was was in the squad that reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

According to Press Association Sport the former Blackpool and Sunderland player has now called time on his international footballing career to focus on his club career at Nottingham Forest.

Wales manager Chris Coleman named his squad on Wednesday for the opening World Cup qualifier against Moldova on September 5th.
