Animal shelter under threat after losing pet food supply
An animal shelter in Carmarthenshire says it may be forced to close after losing its free supply of pet food.
Many Tears Animal Rescue in Cross Hands used to pick up broken bags of food from internet retail giant Amazon's warehouse in Swansea, but the company is moving its pet food operations to Scotland.
Owner Sylvia Vanatta says she will have to find £24,000 a year to feed the animals - a sum that could see the shelter go under.
As well as the hundreds of animals on site, Many Tears also provides food for around 150 foster dogs temporarily housed with families across the UK.
Some kind-hearted foster families have offered to finance the dogs' food themselves in light of the news.
But Many Tears insists that although the gesture is "wonderful", it is still the shelter's responsibility to provide food for the dogs until they are adopted.
Now, despite donations from the public, food stocks are running worryingly low.
