Rural crime cost Wales £2 million in 2015 according to the NFU annual report.

The figure published today shows that crime cost has not risen since 2014. UK statistics show the cost of rural crime in the last year is now an estimated £42.5 million.

According to the rural insurer, the items most commonly targeted by thieves across North Wales over the last 12 months were quad bikes, livestock and oil and diesel, however the cost of quad thefts in Wales has fallen by 37% from 2014.

65% of those surveyed also reported that thieves in their area are becoming more sophisticated in the way that they operate and cyber crime is also a growing concern amongst their communities.
