Wales have qualified for the Euro 2016 quarter finals after beating Northern Ireland 1-0 in Paris.

An own goal from West Brom defender Gareth McAulay, who nudged the ball into the net from a Gareth Bale cross, was enough to seal the win for Chris Coleman's side.

Northern Ireland started the game brightly, with Wayne Hennessey called on to make stops from Stuart Dallas and Jamie Ward.

But Wales also had chances in the first half - Aaron Ramsey having his effort ruled out for offside after he tapped the ball in from a Sam Vokes nod-down.

In a scrappy second half the best early chance also involved Vokes and Bale - the Burnley striker heading wide after a fine cross from Ramsey.

75 minutes in and Wales got what proved to be the winner - Gareth Bale firing the ball across the face of goal and McAuley turning it in as he tried to hold off substitute Hal Robson-Kanu.

In the final stages Northern Ireland piled on the pressure, but it wasn't enough as Wales confirmed their place in the quarters and a match against either Hungary or Belgium in Lille.
