Wales will make history when they take to the pitch in Bordeaux for their opening European Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Coleman's side will kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Slovakia as the Welsh play their first game in a major tournament for more than half a century.

Around 24,000 Wales fans are reported to have tickets for the Group B clash - which will put an end to a 58-year drought of major international competition, stretching back to the 1958 World Cup.

Wales fans even joined in the celebration of a newly married couple on the city streets.

Fans have been spotted around Bordeaux sporting "Spirit of 58" branded T-shirts, a nod to the side which made it to the quarter-finals at the competition in Sweden.

And supporters are hoping this tournament goes down in the record books as well.

Crowds of Welsh and Slovak fans descended upon bars along the Quai de la Douane in the city in south-west France to watch the host nation take on Romania at the Stade de France.

The atmosphere between the supporters was good natured with opposing fans posing for pictures as well as joining in chants together.
