They needed as many points as possible to give them a shot at a play-off spot for the first time since the 2013 season.
The team were without Wales centre Scott Williams and international prop Samson Lee for the crucial match as both are recovering from injury.
FT Ospreys 26 - 46 Ulster
A losst for the Ospreys who were are hoping to clinch a place in the European Champions Cup next season.
Wales lock Alun Wyn Jones was missing again for team as well as Adam Beard .
The Welsh side have never previously failed to qualify for the top tier of European competition.
FT: Zebre 47 - 22 Dragons
The Dragons were looking to end their longest losing run since their inception.
This result means they've lost their tenth consecutive Pro12 game.
The side traveled to Zebre without Taulupe Faletau, who played his final game before joining English Premiership side Bath.
