Watch: Mechanic's crazy roundabout stunt results in driving ban

A car mechanic who "drifted" at high speed around a busy roundabout has been banned from driving - after video of his crazy stunt was shown to a court.

Ben Griffiths, 21, was caught after the mobile footage of him speeding sideways twice around the roundabout was posted onto Facebook.

Police tracked down and arrested him for dangerous driving.

Magistrates heard Griffiths used his modified BMW 318 for off-road racing events at a specialist track - and claimed he was "in control".

But the video shows tyres squealing and the engine revving as the car flies around the junction in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Haverfordwest Magistrates heard Griffiths told police his driving experience meant he could safely undertake the manoeuvre.

Mark Leyton, defending, added: "It was absolutely stupid behaviour on his part, and he deeply regrets it".

Griffiths, of Milford Haven, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Magistrates told Griffiths he was "lucky not to kill yourself or someone else", and handed him a 12 months suspended sentence.

He was banned from driving for a year and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £165 court costs.
