New train worth half a million to make railway debut
A brand new train worth more than half a million pounds is coming to the Ffestiniog Railway service to travel through Snowdonia.
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway say the new train service will start this spring and run a 40-mile route from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Caernarfon.
The train is made up of a £250,000 Pullman observation car 150 and three standard class saloons, which are considered to be the same as first class carriages on most heritage railways. The service will eventually update to having ten carriages worth £100,000 each.
The train will have its debut today with a journey from Tan y Bwlch to Beddgelert, with VIP guests including Lord Dafydd-Elis Thomas, Liz Saville Roberts, Baron Dafydd Wigley and the high Sheriff and Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd.
