RSPCA reveal dogs are the most abused pet

Figures released today by the RSPCA show that dogs are the nation's most persecuted pets. In 2015, there were nearly 6,000 investigations into cruelty towards dogs – three times the number of investigations into cats.

In total there were 9,895 investigations ,which is lower than last year’s figure of 11,740. But the RSPCA’s chief superintendent Martyn Hubbard said there’s still a big concern, and that the situation is ‘as bad as previous years.’

Blacks, an 18-month-old brindle greyhound type dog was found in an emaciated condition living in a filthy kennel with no food, bedding or water. He was shaking, timid and very unsteady on his feet and every bone in his body was protruding including his ribs, hips, spine and backbone. Blacks has since been re-homed and is now named Dash.

Rocky was in a poor body condition, and was kept in a small cage. His owners were disqualified from keeping animals for 10 years and he has also since been re-homed.
