Welsh Government invests £88 million into purpose built adult mental health unit
A state of the art, purpose built Adult Mental Health Unit will be opening its doors today.
The Welsh Government invested £88 million into the new unit to provide modern, state of the art facilities for people experiencing mental health illnesses. Hafan y Coed, which means woodland haven in Welsh, will be replacing the services currently provided in the outdated 108 year old Whitchurch Hospital and the Llanfair Unit.
A key aspect in the design of the building has been using new technology, which not only increases safety for staff and guests, but will also mean privacy for service users during their stay.
