Four Welsh athletes are part of the 12-strong table tennis team hoping for medals at Rio 2016

Four Welsh athletes have been included in the Paralympics GB's table tennis team for this year's Olympic Games in Rio.

Sara Head, Rob Davies, Paul Karabardak, and Paul Davies, are part of the 12-strong team announced by the British Paralympic Association today.

35-year-old Sara Head from Beddau, has come back from two years of injury and illness to be named in the team, after winning bronze in the women’s class 1-3 team event in London 2012.

Former rugby player Rob Davies, 31, from Brecon, was knocked out of the singles competition in the London games, but has since become double European champion and is the current World number one in men's class one.

30-year-old Paul Karabardak from Swansea, will be competing in his third Paralympic games and last year took bronze in the singles and silver in the team at the European Championships.

Like Sara, Paul Davies, from North Cornelly is returning from injury to take part in the games, having own bronze in the men's class one singles in London 2012.

Performance director Gorazd Vecko says the team are targeting four to six medals and he believes they're on track to achieve that.
