Share your medical records to shape the Welsh NHS

How would you feel about handing over all your medical history to university researchers? Well that's what 260,000 of us are being asked to do as part of a new mass experiment.

HealthWise Wales is being hailed as a first in Europe. The aim is to collect medical data from a large group of volunteers which will be studied by researchers at Cardiff and Swansea universities.

The Chief Medical Office Ruth Hussey says the purpose of the project is to share knowledge to improve health in Wales.

A new website has been launched to give the public more information and people from across the country and of all ages (over 16) are being asked to take part.

Ruth Hussey insists the data will remain confidential and not be shared beyond the researchers, but should the data fall into the wrong hands, serious questions will be asked.
