Welsh singer and activist Charlotte Church has hit back at neighbours for going to the press to complain about 'unacceptable' noise levels during her 30th birthday celebrations.

Many residents are believed to have reported the situation to police and spoken to local and national press following the party on Saturday night.

The Daily Mail reported officers were called to her £1.5m property in Dinas Powys where 100 guests partied until 5:30am - but no further action was taken.

Church took to Twitter to say she would have appreciated them speaking to her directly rather than the 'gutter press' and refuted claims her party turned her village in Dinas Powys into a 'war zone'.

The singer and actress, who turned 30 on 21 February, apologised to those affected by the noise and thanked fans for wishing her happy birthday.
