Former Wales football international Graham Moore dies

Graham Moore was capped 21 times for Wales in his playing career which began in 1957.

During his 16-year-career he made over 400 appearances in the Football League scoring 61 goals.

Hengoed-born Graham joined Cardiff City as a 16 year-old amateur from Bargoed YMCA in 1957 whilst working at Penallta Colliery.

An attacking midfield player, he was a Wales Youth International when he made his first-team début for City in a Second Division game at Brighton in September 1958 at the age of 17.

He made his senior Wales début in October 1959, playing against England at Ninian Park in front of an all-time record attendance of 62,634, and heading a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

It was the first of his 21 senior Wales appearances and was once voted BBC Wales “Welsh Sports Personality of the Year”.

He went on to play Chelsea, Manchester United and Northampton.

He died at the age of 74.
