Welsh Lib Dems go back to basics

Welsh Liberal Democrats say they'll focus on getting 'the basics' of public services right when it comes to their promises to voters in the forthcoming Assembly Election campaign.

Speaking as Lib Dems gather for a rally ahead of their conference, Welsh Lib Dem leader Kirsty Williams said that the party has made it a priority to listen to people's concerns.

She criticised the Labour Welsh Government for failing 'to get the basics right' and said the Lib Dems would be 'relentlessly focussed on getting public services right.'

This will be a difficult election for the Lib Dems, coming as it does a year after a disastrous UK General election and polls showing that they could end up with just a single Assembly Member after May 5th.

But members remain upbeat and party leaders will use their conference speeches to remind them that polls predicted a similar outcome ahead of the last Welsh election in 2011 after which they still had five AMs.
