Five schools from across the South Wales Valleys have been putting their teamwork skills to the test to design the best mechanical robot from Lego.

The competition took place at an education centre in Blaenau Gwent.

The aim of it was to provide young people with an opportunity to take part in activities which enable them to develop work and personal skills.

Peter Jones, Director at the Eden Group, said it was an opportunity for pupils "to learn skills, build confidence and be creative".

It was also an opportunity to learn more about how STEM subjects apply to different careers.

It was supported by five different businesses, using LEGO education resources to learn how to build and programme simple robots.

The teams were judged on the success of their robot, team name and how they worked together for the presentation of their final challenge.
