Arena for 3,500 people is part of £500m Swansea redevelopment plans

Grand plans to transform Swansea into a world class leisure and shopping destination have been unveiled.

It's hoped thousands of jobs will be created and investment worth hundreds of millions of pounds could be on the way as the former St David's shopping centre, the St David's multi-storey car park and the LC car park are redeveloped.

Ideas in the plan include:

  • A 3,500-seat arena

  • A new tall residential building that could rival Meridian Tower

  • A new retail street and circuit

  • A restaurant and café quarter

  • A state-of-the-art cinema

  • A new public square

  • Improved links between the city centre and waterfront

The plans are designed to transform Swansea

Ideas for the the Civic Centre site include apartments, town houses, cafés and restaurants.
