Great-grandmother says her life has turned around after quitting her 80-a-day smoking habit

A great-grandmother says her life has been turned around after she kicked her smoking habit that was costing her more than her mortgage.

Paula Garnett, from Kimnel Bay in north Wales used to smoke 80 cigarettes a day, spending more than £300 a month on her habit. She tried to give up a number of times, but 16-months ago she decided enough was enough and she quit for good.

Paula's story is one that Public Health Wales hopes will inspire others across Wales to kick the habit. Around 20 per cent of the population here still smoke and the latest campaign aims to get parents to quit - not just for themselves, but for their children.

Paula says she'll never touch another cigarette and says stopping smoking has changed her life and will hopefully change other lives as well.
