Thousands raised for woman who lost husband and baby following fatal crash
Over £10,000 has been raised for a woman who lost her husband in a car accident and her baby just a few days later.
Amanda Lewis' husband Simon, from Trowbridge, died at the scene of the crash on Lamby Way on New Year's Eve when the car they were travelling in collided with a Peugeot 307.
Amanda was due to give birth in three months' time but their baby boy was delivered via emergency cesarean on Sunday morning due to the stress of the accident. He died just a few hours later.
The couple also have a three-year-old daughter together.
Following the tragedy, a Go Fund Me page was set up to raise £3,000 to support Amanda and her family but donations have well exceeded that target in just twelve hours.
According to the page, Amanda's parents flew to Cardiff from California and the money was to go towards helping them stay with her for "as long as necessary" as well as funeral costs.
A football tournament and auction has also been organised for 28 Februrary to help raise more funds.
As well as donations, friends and family have been paying tribute to Simon on the page saying the donations show "how much people thought of him and his family".
One woman said there was "such amazing support" for "such a tragic loss" with another saying "the whole of Trowbridge is in mourning for this lovely family".
The driver of the Peugeot involved in the collision has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has also been arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
