Mum who suffered stroke after giving birth receives £7000 anonymous donation
A fundraising campaign for a mother from Gwent who suffered a stroke just minutes after giving birth to twins has received an anonymous donation of £7000, bringing the total amount raised to more than £21,000.
Charlotte Fairlie suffered a stroke just minutes after the birth of her twins Fox and Teddy in December 2014. The 34 year-old was transferred to the University Hospital of Wales where doctors discovered a blood clot on her brain, and Charlotte spent the following 9 months in hospital before returning home to her family earlier this year.
Friends and family began an online fundraising campaign in August to support Charlotte's rehabilitation and to help the family with her care and living expenses. So far, they've raised more than £21,000; including £7000 from an anonymous donor last night.
