A rugby superfan has claimed a world record for the most rugby world cup games attended in a single tournament.

Justin Davies, 44, is on course to watch 28 games after splashing £3,000 on tickets for this year's tournament after travelling from New Zealand.

Justin, who is originally from Aberdare said: "I've been to 26 games so far and have tickets to the remaining two this weekend. I've travelled to Exeter, Newcastle, Twickenham, Wembley, the Olympic Stadium, Leicester, Gloucester and Cardiff.

"I've spent around £3,000 on tickets and dread to think how much more on hotels and travelling.

"The trickiest was watching Romania and Canada in Leicester followed by Fiji and Uruguay in Milton Keynes on the same day. I was sprinting out of the Leicester City Stadium to my mate who had the car running. We got to our seats just in time for the anthems."

Justin contacted Guinness World Records to see if there was a record for watching Rugby World Cup games.

The record keepers told Mr Davies that he needed to watch more than 15 games in this year's tournament for his achievement to be recognised.

After spending six weeks watching 2240 minutes of rugby the proud Welshman has claimed the record - and is backing New Zealand to win the final this weekend.
