MP calls for answers over four years on from Chevron refinery blast

The explosion killed 4 people and left 1 injured in 2011.

A Pembrokeshire MP is calling for answers from the investigation into the explosion at the Chevron oil refinery in Rhoscrowther, which killed four people in 2011.

Simon Hart, Conservative MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, is asking for the investigation to reach a conclusion, or at least an explanation into the delays, well over four years since the explosion occurred.

Julie Jones, Dennis Riley, Robert Broome and Andrew Jenkins were all killed in the blast, with a 5th person, Andrew Philips, suffering severe burns.

An investigation involving Dyfed-Powys Police and the Health and Safety Eexecutive was set up after the blast.

After the explosion an investigation into the cause of the incident was set up involving Dyfed-Powys Police working in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive.

Dyfed-Powys Police released a statement on the fourth anniversary of the blast, saying that they remained "committed to the investigation" whilst calling it "lengthy and complex case".

Meanwhile energy company Valero, who acquired the facility from Chevron, have said they will "continue to co-operate fully" with the police and the HSE.
