Pub reported for singing Welshmen after England defeat
A pub has been rapped by council officials because Welshmen were heard singing after a Rugby World Cup match.
The rugby-lovers were singing their favourite songs after England lost to Australia - but local residents weren't in the mood for the late night celebrations.
A council officer called the owner of The Sun Inn in Llangollen, north Wales, after overhearing the fans singing outside - including the Welsh national anthem.
Now the pub could face punishment - including having their opening hours cut.
The latest sing-song happened late on Saturday night after happy revellers celebrated Wales going through the quarter-finals after Australia knocked England out of the competition.
Elissa, who has been the manager for 17 years, said the small group were singing songs between 1am and 2am on Sunday morning as they left the pub.
The regulars insisted none of the song were "blue" rugby songs but just patriotic Welsh singalongs.
After overhearing the four men singing, her father John Gravells told them to leave - as she feared they were disturbing residents.
Mr Gravells, who is the Designated Premises Supervisor then had a call from a Denbighshire Council officer calling them to a meeting to discuss the incident.
A Denbighshire Council spokesman said: "We're unable to comment on this as it's part of an ongoing licensing investigation."
