Wrexham remembers hundreds killed in Gresford mining disaster
81 years ago today an explosion at Gresford Colliery near Wrexham took the lives of 266 men.
The event, in 1934, remains one of the worst disasters in mining history, with only eleven bodies ever recovered.
Nearly all traces of the mine are gone, but for many people in the area the scars of that day live on.
