Survivor of Zack Davies' racist 'Lee Rigby revenge' attack makes passionate speech outside court
A man who tried to kill an Asian dentist in a racially-motivated attack at a north Wales supermarket has been given a life sentence.
Zack Davies attacked Dr Sarandev Bhambra with a hammer and a machete at the Mold supermarket in January.
Dr Bhambra, from Leeds, suffered "life-changing" injuries in the attack, but has made a gradual recovery.
He now hopes to return to work in the near future.
Today he addressed journalists outside court.
He told journalists he had "purposely shunned the media spotlight", due to the trauma and stress of the attack.
He said he had been undergoing intense physiotherapy and rehabilitation under the care of a team in his home city.
North Wales Police have been asked to comment.
Dr Bhambra he had "no emotion" about his attacker and had attempted to direct his energies elsewhere.
Branding Davies "a coward", he said it was "abhorrent" that his attacker claimed he was honouring Lee Rigby by carrying out the attack.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to Lee Rigby and his family". he added.
He thanked ex-soldier Peter Fuller, who intervened to help stop the attack.
Dr Bhambra also paid tribute to medical teams who've helped him, along with police liaison officers.
"My family have been brilliant and have been supportive".
