Plaid's parliamentary leader steps down for personal reasons

Jonathan Edwards says he wants to put constituents and family first

Plaid Cymru's leader in Parliament says he's decided to step down from the rôle for personal reasons.

Jonathan Edwards MP succeeded Elfyn Llwyd as Parliamentary leader following May's UK Election.

I understand that at a group meeting last night he told colleagues that he wanted to put constituency and family first, adding that he wants 'to serve the people of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr to the best of my endeavours.'

He'll continue to play a full part of Plaid's parliamentary team but will be replaced as leader by Arfon MP, Hywel Williams.
