Destination Wales: Carole Green gets a taste of the Vale of Clwyd

Rolling hills, market towns and an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Vale of Clwyd is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of northeast Wales.

Our correspondent Carole Green chose it as her ideal destination and paid a visit to the Clwydian Range Food Trail where visitors can sample home grown treats from beer to ice cream.

Hafod Brewery makes just 160 bottles of specialist beer every two months and sells it to local pubs in the area.

Dave Jones, Chair of the Clwydian Range Food Trail says the idea behind the trail was to create something for tourists and local people alike.

Anna Taylor is an ice cream maker and her company uses fresh milk directly from the family farm next door.

She says the food trail is helping secure the future of the family farm.
