Drinkers more likely to gamble, says report
People who consume large amounts of alcohol are more likely to gamble. That's according to a new study commissioned by Alcohol Concern Cymru.
The study, carried out by university researchers, looked at drinking and gambling behaviours in Wales, as well as across the UK and internationally.
It revealed that people who regularly consume large amounts of alcohol are more likely to engage in moderate or problematic gambling, and that around a third of people with severe gambling issues are currently, or have been, alcohol dependent.
The report also found around a quarter of adults in Wales have reported binge drinking at least once a week. 2% of men in Wales and England were also classified as pathological gamblers.
