New clinic opens for over 60s to check for signs of osteoporosis
A new clinic has opened designed to check the bones of those people who may be at high risk of developing the condition osteoporosis.
The First Fracture Clinic in Pontypool is for people over 60 who have had fractures before and may be at risk of developing brittle bones.
Each year the UK spends £2 billion on treatment and care for people with hip fractures - that's £5 million every day. Each fracture costs around £15,000. The clinic says fewer potential hip fractures, means money saved.
