Charity launches 'Vanicures' to help people into work

The van has been refurbished into a mobile nail bar.

A south Wales charity has launched a new mobile nail bar, thought to be the first of its kind in Britain.

Charity Fourteen-A has been training disadvantaged young people up as beauticians.

It's hoped the beauty therapy and nail technology skills offered by the charity will help bridge the gap between training and work experience for newly qualified trainees.

The facility offers manicures on the road, raising money for the charity.

The mobile nail bar project, dubbed 'Vanicures', is the brainchild of charity director Sian Llewellyn.

She says she hopes her work will help those with the most complex barriers into employment:

Sian bought her van for just over £1,000 at the start of the year, stripping it out and refurbishing it with six manicure tables and even a pop up reception desk.

The van was bought in January and has been developed since then.
