What will you choose to do? Wales' new organ donor register launches
A new and updated NHS Organ Donor Register will be officially launched across the UK today.
The new UK-wide register allows people in Wales to register their decision to opt in to donate or – for the first time – register a decision not to be a donor.
People in Wales have had access to the new register since June 15 when a national leaflet started to arrive in all Welsh homes.
It contained details about the new soft opt-out law, which will come into effect in Wales on December the 1st this year.
The current public information campaign aims to encourage people in Wales to think about their organ donation choices and to provide them with the information they need so they can formally register their organ donation decision in advance of December 1.
From December 1, if a Welsh resident has not yet registered a clear decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register and chooses to do nothing then they will be regarded as having no objection to organ donation and their consent may be deemed.
