Funeral of Wales rugby league international Danny Jones to be held

The 29 year old Welsh rugby player collapsed on the pitch during the game.

The funeral for Wales rugby league international Danny Jones will take place today in Halifax, England.

The 29 year old died earlier this month of a cardiac arrest triggered by an hereditary heart disease.

He collapsed on the pitch during his club Keighley's League 1 game at London Skolars and efforts to resuscitate him failed.

Jones leaves behind a wife Lizzie and five-month-old twins, Bobby and Phoebe.

His widow says the funeral will be a 'celebration of his life' and has asked people to wear rugby jerseys and bright colours to 'remember his wonderful fun personality.'

Keighley rugby players have also been getting tattoos to honour their fellow teammate by having '6DJ' tattooed on them as a tribute.

Keighley rugby league club also wants to raise £1 million for the family of the Welsh international player and says the money will help ensure there is no repeat of the tragedy.
