No fun at funfair for thrill-seekers trapped in mid-air

Thrill-seekers were stuck 20ft off the ground for an hour when a funfair ride jammed in mid air.

Fairgoers were enjoying the Miami Madness ride when it broke down while swinging them through the sky. The seven passengers were left stranded on the ride at the Coney Beach fair in Porthcawl, south Wales.

Firefighters rushed to the rescue the riders - including children - at the seaside town. They were freed "uninjured" after more than an hour trapped on the ride - and were given blankets to keep them warm.

A fire service spokesman said, "Crews were called to assist the release of riders at the fairground."
