One of Newport's most iconic structures is back on public display after years of sitting in storage.

The mechanical clock known as 'In the Nick of Time' was removed from John Frost Square in 2008 to make way for the Friars Walk development.

The clock has now been rebuilt on a roundabout near a new housing development in Llanwern after being bought by developers.

The mechanical structure was originally built by agricultural sculptor Andy Plant in 1992 to represent Newport at the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival.

It was then moved to John Frost Square where every hour the clock would dismantle to reveal hidden characters inside.

After being removed in 2008, Newport City Council made several recommendations over the future of the clock including scrapping it, restoring it, relocating it or keeping it in storage.

The clock was used to represent Newport at the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival in 1992.
