'To the Batcave!' - Superhero fans get walk to Batman's lair
A stunning waterfall used by Batman star Christian Bale to conceal his secret cave in the films has been revealed to fans for the first time.
Superhero fans can now walk to the Henrhyd Falls in the Brecon Beacons National Park used as the cover for the Batcave in the final film The Dark Knight Rises.
National Park chiefs have built a path to the isolated waterfall to allow caped crusader lovers - some in fancy dress - to make a pilgrimage to the falls.
The 90ft wall of water was seen in the final film of the Christopher Nolan trilogy as the location where Robin discovers the Batcave after the apparent death of Batman.
To reach the falls, fans previously had to clamber down a precarious and steep tree-lined hill and wade across a river.
But now a short walk through a woodland trail and footbridge brings visitors out at the foot of the falls - and they can even walk behind the water and into the entrance of the Batcave.
Henrhyd Falls is the tallest waterfall in southern Britain and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the rare mosses, liverworts and lichen which grow in the damp, heavily wooded gorge, with its thin soils and steep rocky slopes.
It is possible for visitors to walk behind the waterfall like Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is seen swinging through the falls in the final scenes of The Dark Knight Rises.
Judith Harvey, wardens manager for Brecon Beacons national park authority, said: "There has been a steady increase in visitors to the Nant Llech Trail and Henrhyd waterfall making it a popular walking destination in the Brecon Beacons.
"With work now complete, it means that people for many generations to come can really enjoy what Abercraf and the surrounding area has to offer, safe in the knowledge that they are not causing any damage."
Brecon Beacons national park has been a location for many film and television series, including Doctor Who, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Merlin.
