Half of children in Wales do not raise online concerns

Today is Safer Internet Day across the UK Credit: PA

Half of children in Wales say they haven't spoken to anyone after seeing something online which made them feel uncomfortable.

According to a survey of eight to seventeen-year-olds by the charity Action for Children, more than one in five said they didn't raise concerns because they were worried about getting into trouble.

Of those who did talk to somebody, 60% went to parents, 40% to friends and 10% to a teacher.

Action for Children is encouraging parents to talk to their children about the time they spend online.

Today (February 10th) marks Safer Internet Day, a UK-wide initiative to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
